The Baking Room started life in Karen Jackson’s kitchen in Manchester in 2012. Karen enjoys making different types of cakes, using seasonal fruit and veg and local produce wherever possible and there is always at least one gluten free and vegan option on the menu. As she developed her skills she moved into making celebration and wedding cakes, using events and wedding fairs to establish this side of the business.
After moving to Forden in May 2019 (and obtaining a 5 hygiene rating), Karen was looking for new challenges and hoping to have a presence at some of the local shows with the cake stall and a “Decorate your own Cupcake” children’s activity.
She says “The best thing about cake decorating, and Wedding cakes in particular, is working with your client to design a cake that is unique to them and learning new techniques along the way. I always say its one of the best jobs because receiving a cake always puts a smile on someone’s face”.
From having a stall at the extended Montgomery Market and collaborating with Shed38 during 2020, Karen is looking forward to working with both again in the future, as well as Montgomery Weddings.
