Responding to planning applications and consultations is an important area of responsibility. Montgomery Town Council has established a Planning Committee to scrutinise plans and documents, make site visits, and listen to comments from the general public and applicants in a transparent manner. This Committee then proposes a response to full Council that can be submitted in a timely and fully considered manner.

A meeting of the Committee is called whenever there are applications or consultations to be considered. Meetings are open to the public and advertised on the noticeboard and calendar. The Committee aims to provide clear information on planning procedures to enable residents to understand the process and how they can engage. The Committee will establish a communication system so residents are aware of local planning applications, Town Council responses and the final outcome on determination by Powys Local Planning Authority.
