Montgomery Wales - your gateway to Mid Wales

Cloverlands Model Car Museum Offical Opening 12th March 2016

With the Cloverlands Model Car Museum now fully stocked and extended and fully embedded into the makeup of the Institute it seemed only right to have an official opening and who better than to invite than 3rd baron Lord Davies of Llandinam, descendant of Lord Davies who originally gave the Institute to the towns people of Montgomery.

Bruce Lawson, Cloverlands curator, started out by thanking all those that had helped in making Cloverlands the success it is today, Roy Marthews, Glenys Smith and a host of volunteers. Bruce also thanked Patron Gillian Rogers for the wonderful collection of large scale model cars. Bruce presented a gift to Gillian Rogers as a mark of appreciation for the loan of most of the 1500 plus cars and large model collections.

Montgomery Mayor, Eric Fairbrother took the stand and detailed the history behind the Institute and the generous donation from Lord Davies grandfather all those years ago. Eric thanked Bruce, Cloverlands and all those involved for the spirit behind the foundations of Cloverlands to keep something so historically important alive. Not only does this benefit the legacy of model cars but also adds a great boost for tourism in Montgomery.

Glyn Davies MP added his support for such an ambitious project and wished Cloverlands a very successful future
